Made simple for a first lawn
- One number to start with. Each roll covers 1 m², so an 18 m² lawn is 18 rolls.
- A little spare for trimming. Add around 5% so you have offcuts for the edges and corners.
- Cut for the day you pick. Plan to lay it the day it arrives, while it's at its freshest.
- No surprises at the till. The delivered price for your postcode shows before you pay.
Your first lawn in four steps
Measure
Length × width in metres. Odd shape? Split it into rectangles and add them up, or use our turf calculator.
Get the soil ready
Clear the old grass and weeds, dig over, rake level and firm it with your heels. Rake once more so the top is loose.
Order your turf
Pick your size, delivery or collection, and a date. Order by 2pm the working day before.
Lay and water
Start along a straight edge, stagger the joints like brickwork, then water until the soil underneath is damp.
What it costs
Turf starts from £4.60 a roll, and the price per roll drops as your order grows. The basket works out your total, with delivery for your postcode, before you pay.
Rather fetch it yourself? Collection from our collection point near Newcastle Airport is free, by order only, with the address and directions in your confirmation.

First-timer questions
Something else? Ring 0191 694 1077 or send us a message.
Can I lay turf myself if I've never done it?
Yes. For a small lawn you need a rake, a sharp knife (an old bread knife works), a plank to kneel on and a hose or watering can. Work off the plank so you don't press dents into the soil.
How much spare should I order?
Around 5% for a simple rectangle, a little more if there are curves or corners. Our turf calculator adds a little spare for you.
Do I need to be in when it's delivered?
No. Your turf is left at your property or the closest suitable and accessible point, in the most convenient place we reasonably can where it's possible and safe. Add any access notes when you order.
Which way round do the rolls go?
Grass side up. Unroll each one along the line of the last, push the edges together so there are no gaps, and stagger the joints row to row.
