Turf Delivery to Terraces and Back Lanes

Terraced streets and back lanes are a regular run for us. The driver leaves your turf at your property or the closest suitable and accessible point, which on some terraces may be the back lane. You don't need to be home.

How delivery works

  1. Order online

Choose your size, add your postcode and pick a day. Collection is there too if you'd rather fetch it.

  2. Add parking or access notes

A narrow lane, a shared yard, where the van can pull in: anything that helps the driver find you first time.

  3. Order by 2pm the working day before

The basket shows which delivery days are open. Order as far ahead as you can to avoid disappointment.

  4. Delivered to your property

We leave your turf in the most convenient place we reasonably can, where it's possible and safe.

Every kind of street

Delivery is priced by postcode and shown before you pay.

  • Terraces and back lanes

Part of our everyday round, cobbled lanes included. On some terraces the closest suitable and accessible point is the back lane.

  • Estates and parking courts

Open-plan fronts, shared courts and footpaths. Name your court or nearest garage in your notes.

  • New builds

Fresh estates with new road names. Your plot number or the nearest show home helps the driver find you.

Useful things to put in your note

  • Where the van can pull in, especially on a narrow lane
  • House number, and whether it's painted on the front door or the back gate
  • Tyneside flat with a shared yard? Say which door is yours
  • Anything nearby that stands out: a garage, a coloured door, a satellite dish
  • Your bin day, if the lane gets busy with bins

On the day

The driver leaves your turf at your property or the closest suitable and accessible point, in the most convenient place we reasonably can, where it's possible and safe.

Plan to lay it the day it arrives. Until then, keep it stacked and in the shade.

We only show delivery dates on days we fully expect to be able to deliver your order, and we'll deliver on the day you choose wherever possible. Your chosen day is a requested day rather than a 100% guarantee, as vehicle delays, unexpected traffic and weather conditions can all occasionally get in the way. As standard, we'll call or message you to confirm your expected delivery day, and let you know if it ever needs to be a different day.

Deliveries go out as early as possible and run through the day, between 8am and 4pm. Most are completed between 10am and 2pm.

Is your street on our patch?

We'll take you to the order page with your postcode filled in.

Something else? Ring 0191 694 1077 or send us a message.

Do I need to be in?

No. We deliver to your property or the closest suitable and accessible point. Add any parking or access notes when you order. We'll use your mobile and email to let you know when your turf is ready for delivery or collection, and again once it's been delivered or collected, although the message may not arrive at the exact moment it's left.

Can you leave it in the back lane?

Back lanes are standard for our drivers. The driver leaves your turf at your property or the closest suitable and accessible point, which on some terraces may be the back lane. Add any notes about access when you order.

Can the van get down my lane?

Back lanes, cobbled ones included, are part of what we deliver to. If your lane is narrow or has a tight turn, add a note when you order.

Does delivery cost more on a back lane?

No. Delivery is priced by your postcode, so it's the same price for every street in that area.
