Laying a long, narrow garden
Long, narrow plots are common behind 1930s semis and in the older terraces round Houghton-le-Spring and Hetton-le-Hole. They're a straightforward shape to turf, because every row is the same.
Laying in a running pattern
Start across the top, by the house, and work down the garden. Stagger each row like brickwork so the joins never line up.
Keep a plank on the turf you've just laid and kneel on that. It spreads your weight and keeps the surface even.

Clear a route first
Move bikes, bins and pots out of the way before you start carrying.
Use a barrow if you've got one

Yes. We deliver into back lanes regularly. The driver leaves your turf at your property or the closest suitable and accessible point, which on some terraces may be the back lane. Add any access notes when you order.
